Hello,
Enjoying your Tuesday so far? Well it's about to get a little bit cheerier because it's time to break out the glue gun! It's all about crafting today and enhancing that gorgeous home of yours. I know that you are all busy planning a menu for turkey day next week because you're an amazing domestic goddess! Duh! Anyways, while your juggling a menu, cooking and guests don't forget about fall decor! These craft ideas are super simple even for the novice crafter.
Cinnamon Candles
Cinnamon is such a quintessential scent of the season and makes your home smell just like the holidays. Well that is, if we could bottle up the scent of the holiday season but you get the point ;)
You will need:
- 10-12 cinnamon sticks (depending on the width of your candle)
- Candles of any size
- Scissors
- Glue gun or craft glue
- Ribbon (6 in)
Take about 10 cinnamon sticks and hot glue them to the outside of your candles or you can also use any craft glue you have available.
Then take your ribbon and tie a simple bow around your new homemade candles!
Topsy-Turvy Flower Glasses
Super simple right?! I mean it doesn't get easier than this! This is so versatile for practically any type of event/party that you are hosting. Use flowers in season from your local grocery store to complement your tablescape.
You will need:
- votives
- wine glasses or martini glasses
- flowers (preferably anything in season)
First, cut off the flowers from the stems
Then just place the flower on your table, turn the glass upside down.
Finally, for the piece de resistance top your glass with a votive.
Gourd Vases
For an easy autumn display this is absolutely exquisite! Use what's around you, nature is full of beautiful colors, patterns and shapes.
You will need:
- Gourd
- Flowers
- Knife
Start off by cutting the tops of the gourds off
Then just place your lovely flowers and ta-da!
Glowing Hurricane Glasses
This is brought to you by Martha Stewart
Ah, Martha Stewart she's always coming up with new ideas to make entertaining a little easier. This is also very versatile and you can choose whatever color palette you like to fit your needs.
This would make an interesting centerpiece in your living room, on your mantle or even in your entry way.
You will need:
- Hurricane glasses or vases (varying in size)
- Tape
- Votive candle
- Scissors
- Cut 4 pieces of 20-by-26-inch tissue paper in half crosswise. Lay flat on a work surface, and make a 1- to 2-inch fold on the bottom of one piece.
- Make a larger fold in another piece, and fit it into the fold of the first piece of paper. Repeat process with remaining pieces of paper, making some folds thinner and some wider.
- Wrap around hurricane glasses, and then secure with tape. Place a small votive candle in each. Be sure wick is cut short and doesn't come in contact with the paper.
Have fun crafting and I hope you send me pictures of your fabulous crafts! I'd love to see how they turned out for you!
Have a sweet day!
xoxo,
